Abstract

The main put or overview of chapter 18 is about Family. It talks about the contrasting kind of family, trade union patterns, residential patterns, patterns of descent, functions of the family, stages of the family, reasons for divorce, why divorce is on the increase etc.

Introduction

What is the most important aspect to you in behavior? Is it your job, car, or your phones? Well, no matter what ethnicity you are or where youre from around the world the answer would more than likely be my family. It is noticeable that even an individual who was raised with foster parents interpose high priority to their family. The question thence is: what is the definition of family? Well, family is defined as a social institution found in on the whole societies that unites people in cooperative groups to oversee the strength and rising of children
As human beings we are naturally curious, therefore it had led us to all kind of discoveries about the different kinds of families we may encounter. As we begin reading the chapter we discovered that all kind of families exists. These types are extended, nuclear, single parent, reconstituted, the visiting union and the product line relative household.



However our main focus will be on the nuclear and extended family. The extended is a family unit that includes parents and children as well as other kins (relatives). This type of family is alike regarded as the consanguine family because of the fact that this type of unit includes everyone with shared blood. The nuclear family on the other hand is defined as a family unit composed of two parents and their children. This type of family is also referred to d conjugal family meaning that it is based on marriage.
